After a series of diplomatic efforts and administrative milestones regarding the Eastern DRC crisis have brought the conflict more towards the center of international politics, the country's president Félix Tshisekedi has expressed his willingness to introduce and spearhead a national dialogue.
Since his administration emphasizes on the need of national unity and cohesion as a indispensible prerequisit for stability and prosperity, the suggested national dialogue is aimed at bringing opposing patriotic forces at one table in order to commonly pursuit the country's best interest.
However, the president has announced to do so only under the condition, that this dialogue will happen only on Congolese soil and be under the supervision of an independent international institution. Additionally, it should under no circumstances become a platform to undermine or criticize the current Congolese government, as this would not lead to any significant change.
