Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an "immediate and unconditional ceasefire" effective from midnight (1200 GMT) on July 28, 2025, following days of deadly cross-border clashes. The announcement came after talks in Putrajaya, Malaysia, mediated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with Thai acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in attendance.
The conflict, centered around disputed border areas near the Preah Vihear and Ta Muen Thom temples, has killed at least 35 people and displaced over 270,000 civilians from both countries. Despite the agreement, sporadic clashes were reported during the talks, with both sides accusing each other of provocations.
The ceasefire aims to halt the worst fighting between the two nations in over a decade, with international pressure from the U.S., China, and the UN contributing to the push for peace
