Ghana's education sector is undergoing significant reforms under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ghana Education Service (GES), and National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).

These changes build on initiatives started in recent years, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) program introduced in 2017, and focus on improving access, quality, equity, and relevance.

  • Free SHS and a dedicated funding: GH¢1 billion has been allocated to sustain the Free SHS program, with additional funds clearing arrears (e.g., GH¢72.8 million for Capitation Grants) and supporting BECE registration (GH¢122.8 million). The School Feeding Programme's per-child budget has increased.

  • Cancellation of Teacher Licensure Exams: Graduates no longer need to return to campus for these exams, simplifying the path to employment

  • Infrastructure and Community Involvement: Districts are directed to build new nurseries, primary, and JHS facilities using the 2025 District Assemblies Common Fund. Stalled E-Blocks are being revisited, Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) reactivated for discipline and accountability, and timely academic calendars promised.

  • Free first year Tertiary education: Ghanaian government under President John Dramani Mahama introduced the "No Fees, No Stress" policy as part of broader educational reforms to enhance access to higher education. The policy covers academic fees for all first-year students admitted to public universities, technical universities, colleges of education, and nursing training colleges.

  • Hosting the 2025 ADEA Triennale: Scheduled for October 29–31, 2025, in Accra, this event will gather over 1,000 participants to discuss ending learning poverty by 2035 through resilient education systems.

These reforms reflect a collaborative effort involving government, educators, and stakeholders, with a shared responsibility emphasized by leaders like President John Dramani Mahama
