Kojo Choi, a businessman of Korean descent, has been appointed Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to South Korea by President John Mahama. Born in South Korea, Choi migrated to Ghana at age 14 and has since naturalized as a Ghanaian.
He is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience developing businesses in Ghana and West Africa, particularly in telecommunications, financial technologies, marketing communications, and consultancy. Choi has served as the Chief Executive Officer of PaySwitch Limited, Ghana’s only third-party processing company capable of handling international card schemes like Visa, MasterCard, and UnionPay.
He has also held consulting roles for the Korean Embassy and multinational companies, leveraging his deep knowledge of African business landscapes. Additionally, Choi is an art enthusiast and the founder of Art Africa, promoting Ghanaian and African art globally, notably through the launch of the Osu Gallery in Accra in 2022. His appointment is part of a broader announcement of eight new ambassadors and high commissioners, pending formal vetting and confirmation processes
